Last Monday, October, 19th at 6:00am was the dawning of a new age in morning radio as "The Ménage" on 1150AM KKNW hit the airwaves. Morning radio may never be the same. For audiences that are tired of generic "Walmart" radio, this is a good thing, for "The Menage" is  truly a breath of fresh air, in an increasingly static and bland radio market. There is some great radio being done in Seattle. For those that have been reading, KMTT 103.7 "The Mountain" is one station that we think is very special and now radio audiences can count on radio's newest morning show as being part of that category.

The show is the brainchild of two bright, witty, and extremely intelligent women, Jennifer Austin and Julie Mains. They also happen to host the show. The show combines sketch comedy, political and pop culture satire with a fun and sexy methodology. Moreover, the show challenges the conventions of the morning drive time radio audience. In addition, the show highlights local art and music events. One of the things that makes the show very attractive to music fans, is that it provides an arena and vehicle to showcase some of the region's rich local musical talent.

Several stations and radio shows in the region offer live music, comedy and interviews as part of their repertoire but "The Menage" is committed to shining the spotlight on work from artists that radio listeners may not be able to hear on other stations. Last Friday, the show featured a live in studio performance by local artist, Camille Bloom who also is an instructor at "Rock School" in Redmond / Seattle. Bloom has toured Europe and parts of the U.S.

Monday’s show features local singer/songwriter Aury Moore. Moore recently performed with rock legend Spencer Davis for the fifth time. Moore has also shared the stage with Alan White of "Yes", Michael Wilton of "Queensryche", Roger Fisher of "Heart", Jimmy Cliff and Steve Lukather of "Toto"

Other guests that have visited the show are: Lily Tomlin (actress comedian), Rick Overton ( actor, comedian), Chris Ballew (Presidents of the United States of America), Cathy Sorbo, Hal Sparks (actor, comedian), Sue Quigley, Jerin Falkner, Kermet Apio, Brad Upton, Joe Vespaziani, Ty Barnett, Travis Simmons, No Quarter, Dog Leg Preacher, Eric Bazilian (The Hooters) and Jack Mittleman.

On Wednesday, October, 28th, Seattle Music Examiner / SMI, will go inside the "Menagerie" and visit the studio to chat with the two women that are the creative force behind one of local radio’s newest and most irreverent radio shows. We will talk about the vision of the show and local musical guests that the show will feature. The story and video interview will run on this weekend.

As they say in radio, stay tuned…every morning at 6:00am to "The Menage". It will give you the morning jolt you need on the way to work and save you a couple bucks on that morning cup of java.

Enjoy the video of artist and last Friday's "Menage” guest, Camille Bloom and her band “The Recovery” from her album,"Ten Thousand Miles" recorded live at The Columbia City Theatre in Seattle.
