Did steroid use cause a Sammy Sosa skin condition?
Former Chicago Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa shocked fans when he hit the red carpet at the Latin Grammy's on November 4th with noticeably lighter skin.
Rumors immediately started flying about Sosa and whether or not he bleached his skin or had a possible medical condition. Sosa, who was one of the controversial players at the heart of baseball's steroid scandal has people wondering if steroids caused the skin condition, vitiligo. Vitiligo is known to lighten patches of skin on a persons body and has been linked to steroid use.
Sammy Sosa, who is a native of the Dominican Republic says that neither is the cause for his altered appearance. Sosa, 41, says it's a combination of the bright television lights and a night cream. Telling the Primer Impacto, a Spanish television program that "It's a bleaching cream that I apply before going to bed and it whitens my skin some."
Sammy Sosa who admits to also wearing colored contact lenses says he uses the cream as a moisturizer and that he is in talks to market it.
