UGA gymnast Courtney Kupets nominated for 2009 ESPY Award

UGA Gym Dog and SEC Female Athlete of the Year Courtney Kupets has been nominated for the 2009 ESPY Award for Best Female College Athlete.

There are 37 categories of ESPYS, which are presented annually by ESPN to the top amateur, college and professional athletes and coaches. Fans can go online and vote for their choices in each category.

Soccer player Kerri Hanks (Notre Dame), softball player Danielle Lawrie (Washington), basketball player Maya Moore (Connecticut) and swimmer Dana Vollmer (California) are also nominees for the 2009 ESPY Award for Best Female College Athlete.

All proceeds from the ESPYS will benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research in memory of the late basketball coach and award-winning sports commentator/analyst Jim Valvano, who lost his battle with cancer in 1993.
