UGA 38 Tennessee Tech 0
So, this is what it has come to at UGA: We are excited to have destroyed Tennessee Tech.
I mean absolutely no disrespect to Tennessee Tech (5-4), but, seriously, this is a team Georgia (5-4) should have destroyed. And this is what we are using to get ourselves “up” for the rest of our season? This is our glimmer of hope?
The thing is, even against this FCS team, UGA was 11/86 in penalties and, yes, had a turnover, although this interception was thrown by Logan Gray, not the usual suspect, Joe Cox. However, I suspect Cox's lack of interceptions this week was due to the fact Gray was given more playing time rather than any improvement on his part as the starting QB. The lopsided score may seem positive, but I just don’t see how this game reflects any growth on the part of UGA. Yes, winning is better than losing—of course it is—but let’s be honest with ourselves: This was homecoming in Athens. It was designed to be a win.
Next week, it’s back to SEC football when Auburn (7-3, SEC 3-3) comes to Athens. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (EST), and will air on either ESPN or ESPN2.
