Tomorrow is Georgia (3-3, SEC 2-2) v. Vanderbilt (2-4, SEC 0-3) in Nashville. Although head coach Mark Richt has been victorious seven of eight times v. Vanderbilt since arriving at UGA, he didn’t seem confident in his words on www.georgiadogs.com Thursday.
“They’re showing up, they’re going to work and they got a reasonable amount of enthusiasm considering what’s been going on,” said Richt. “You don’t want them to just be out there having the best time of their lives during practice because Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s are pretty tough work days anyway. I would say they are still grinding, they’re still battling and they still want to prepare well.”
Following the Vanderbilt match up will be Georgia’s bye week, to be followed by the always-anticipated Dawgs v. Gators in Jacksonville on Halloween.
“We need momentum,” Richt continued, referencing the upcoming trip to Jacksonville. “You gain momentum by executing well and by ultimately winning the ball game. It’s like I said Sunday to the team - priority one. There’s no priority but to focus on the preparation of this football game. The best thing that can happen to us right now is to win this game, but we got to earn it. This game is crucial. It’s big."
Georgia v. Vanderbilt will be broadcast on the SEC Network; kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (EST).
