You are standing in a vast clearing of what appears to be a magically hidden forest.  The ground has been covered by a fresh blanket of snow.  It remains the purest of white, sparkling with tiny crystals as not even a sliver of dirt has yet fallen upon it.  Surrounded by a fortress of trees that seem to reach the heavens, a dusting of angelic white illuminates each branch.  Atop the blanket on which you now stand is a single, naked tree.  No green to be had, each branch instead holds a shining layer of ice, dripping down to create the most breathtaking ornaments imaginable.  As the great white moon above seems to pay special attention to this delicate tree, every inch of ice seems to be lit from within, nature's Christmas lights.

For the Fall 2009 Couture collection, Elie Saab has brought this winter fantasy to life.  Each and every piece in this collection is of the purest white.  One could almost believe that the fabric itself were made of snow.  In addition, each beautiful model has been dusted with white across the eyes, transforming the runway into this magical winter scene.

The very first gown I would like to mention comes in the middle of the collection, but is such a literal representation of this magical winter story.  A white, floaty gown embellished with sparkling white sequins, the fabric looks just as freshly fallen snow, glittering under the night sky.  With wonderful assymetrical detail, the dress features a cap sleeve on only one side, merging into a sash that drapes across the body.  Jutting out from the sash, a wide strap falls over the opposite shoulder creating a beautiful contrast against the bare skin.  Another gown fit for a snow queen features floor length white silk, which is gathered beautifully at the waist, creating interest at every angle.  An embellished piece of fabric appears as a necklace and covers the shoulder with volume, dripping down and across the body to the waist.  From the exquisite gowns and more serious tone, we are taken to an ice disco as a sequined white mini dress appears with a deep v-neck.  Worn with sheer, white tights this winter party look features an oversized coat of white feathers and rosettes.

These three looks alone are enough to make anyone wish for a magical snowy forest.  There are, however dozens more snow inspired pieces that are far too beautiful not to be seen.  View the entire collection at http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/F2009CTR-ESAAB.
