I was going to write a long dissertation on what the Fourth of July, and being an American, means to me, but this video says it so much better than I ever could.

So ... go ahead.

Liberal or Conservative.

Democrate or Republican.

Let's see you walk way with dry eyes.

I didn't.

I couldn't!

If, after watching this, your eyes are not wet; and if, after watching this, your heart is not sobbing, then you needn’t read any further. Because this is what being an American means; not the Obamas, or the McCains, or the Bushes, or any of those “Americans” on The Hill with their useless dribble and gridlock rhetoric. "American," is a concept. A principle. Not a government.

These men, and these women; they are what it means to be an American. And should you see one of these REAL Americans in a bar, or an airport, or on a neighborhood street, and you cannot find it within yourself to thank them ... then there is something wrong with YOU!

Because of them, you go to work un-accosted; no IEDs, no car bombs, no nothin’. Just the rush hour traffic and the terrible dangers it presents.

Because of them, you’re not dragged from your home, because you belong to the wrong religious sect, and beheaded.

Because of them, you don’t have to think ... about them.

Because you—are an American!

... and you’re damn lucky! 

Never! Forget that.
