T. Boone Pickens on Larry King Live

August 5, 12:19 PM

T. Boone Pickens, the man who made billions on oil, appeared on Larry King Live last night to tell us how we can free ourselves of its strangle hold. Considering the price of gas these days, maybe we should listen.

King opened the show with the now familiar sound bites of McCain and Obama pointing fingers and mocking each other’s “energy plan,” as if either of them actually have one. What they have are ideas, and they’re old ideas at that. As always, they continue to give us what we’ve become so used to getting. Hot air.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, a King panelist, commented that we are the only country in the world that has made it illegal to access our own energy. Do you think that just might be part of the problem? You betcha!

When asked why we find ourselves in this situation, Pickens answered in one word. Leadership. Because gas was so cheap, there was no urgency to move us away from it, even while the rest of the world did. So, what to do about it? Pickens says he has a plan, something McCain and Obama, do not. In case you missed it, here’s your chance to catch up.
