But, there is an ulterior motive in this charitable cause. “...one of the reasons we're here...” says Senior Pastor, Don Satterwhite, “We want people to know Middle River is right down the street."
Ah-HA! The Catholic is out of the bag! But the Padre’ couldn’t have done better if he had fed the fuel-needy with a couple of fish and seven loaves of bread (I’m pretty sure that’s right. It’s been a long time), because he adds, "I've heard some people here today who've said, oh I've been driving clear into the city to church, and I think I'm going to start going somewhere closer like your church.”
Praise the Lord! And I’m not being blasphemous ... believe me. There are too many lightning storms about lately. But I would strongly suggest to those who did partake of the Lord’s octane bounty today: show up for church this Sunday. The Lord giveth, but He can taketh it back whenever He wants.
As far as shepherding a new flock, Reverend Satterwhite, there is a simpler way to call the Faithful to your congregation, than popping for gas at the local BP. Simply install gas pumps in the church parking lot and sell only discounted gas.
