Waterford Township Michigan- If you are a trout angler and like to catch large Lake Trout Maceday Lake might be your place.  Located in northern Oakland County, Maceday Lake just got stocked full of Lake Trout for the winter.  On Monday November 2nd the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in cooperation with Michigan Department of Natural Resources' Fisheries Division stocked 1,000 Lake Trout into Maceday Lake.

The stockings include 100 4 year old fish averaging 18 inches, 600 3 year old fish averaging 15 inches, and 300 2 year old fish averaging 4.5 inches in length.  This is very rare to have an inland lake get such a large stocking of such large fish.  Maceday is one of the rare lakes in Oakland county where the depth of the water stays cold enough and the oxygen is plentiful enough for the Lake Trout to prosper.

The Lake Trout came from Sullivan Creek National Fish Hatchery located in Raco, Michigan., which is up near the Hiawatha National Forest.

Maceday Lake has been long known for its deep waters where large Bass, Pike, Perch, and Bluegill roam.  Now with  the infusion of Lake Trout, Maceday is sure to be a fisherman's dream.  I'm sure ice fisherman will have great chances of catching large Lake Trout this winter.  Good Luck and tight lines.
