Tom Vincent, Professor Emeritus in the University of Arizona's Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, has passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dr. Vincent received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Oregon State University, and received his doctorate here at the UA and has been in Tucson ever since.
In addition to his role as a professor, he also worked part-time at Hughes Aircraft Company, which you may recognize today as Raytheon, Tucson's largest employer.
In addition to his work in engineering, Tom Vincent also served as a member of the Applied Mathematics department and worked with evolutionary game theory, a field in which he provided guidance as a member of Dr. Rosalyn Rael's (former UA Applied Math grad student and now a postdoc at the University of Michigan) dissertation committee just a few months ago in April 2009...

Addendum (from Dr. Rael): Here is a nice write-up about Tom Vincent that appeared in the first of two issues of the journal Evolutionary Ecology Research dedicated to him. http://www.evolutionary-ecology.com/ddhonour.pdf
