With Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos often exceeding $300 in price, we all realize the impracticality of being a careerwoman and dressing like Sarah Jessica Parker’s character on Sex and the City. And, while it would be nice to wear a freshly purchased designer outfit everyday, let’s face it, it’s just not possible! Luckily, LUNA, a specialty boutique located in the Phillips Place shopping center at Fairview Road and Cameron Valley Parkway, offers a reasonable alternative for women seeking that polished look without having to take out a second mortgage.

Recently, on two rather desperate occasions (I speak of desperate in the sense of “I don’t have anything to wear tonight,” so maybe my use of the term is a bit extreme), I ventured into LUNA with the hopes of finding a five-minute outfit solution. Sure enough, both times I did. LUNA offers both fashionable and conservative clothing, appropriate for a wide variety of occasions while also recognizing that most of us can no longer fork up the big bucks for a little fashion fun.

LUNA was opened in 1996 as an effort to represent a “women’s sanctuary of the south,” and my recent ability to find much needed outfits in one casual walk through the store shows it’s living up to its ideals. The boutique presents a large collection of clothing, jewelry, accessories, home décor, and gifts in a gracious and welcoming atmosphere, unlike many high end stores. If you show up in gym clothes, I guarantee you won’t receive a Miranda Priestly-esque glare that you may receive in some designer boutiques.

Whether you are looking for a last minute outfit, an accessory to pair with an already perfect outfit, or a purse that fits within your budget, consider stopping into LUNA today. I’ve found that the store makes shopping a little more enjoyable and a lot less laborious.
