The stroller distributor in South Norwalk, Connecticut, Maclaren USA, Inc. in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall on Monday, November 9, 2009 that affects approximately one million Maclaren umbrella strollers that can cause a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to your children. Your child can get their fingers stuck in between the hinges while you are opening or closing the umbrella stroller.
The recall affects the Maclaren stroller models, Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno, and Easy Traveller and involves all the Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers.
Maclaren has said that there has been twelve reported amputations around the country and has announced a voluntary recall in cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. They are advising customers to stop using these products that have been manufactured in China and sold since 1999 many stores including Babies “R” Us, Target that includes Orange County and other juvenile product and mass merchandise retailers nationwide from 1999 through November 2009. The Maclaren stroller umbrella prices range from $100 to $360.
