
PEORIA, ILL - The Milwaukee Admirals won their second game of the season Wednesday, winning against the Peoria Rivermen by a score of 4-2. With Wednesday's victory, the Admirals are now 2-0-1 on the season.
The Admirals struck first with a Jon Blum goal (assisted by O'Reilly and Thuresson) midway through the first period. Five minutes later, defenseman Cody Franson increased the Ads lead to 2 goals when he scored on Peoria netminder Hannu Toivonen. Franson's goal was assisted by Alex Sulzer and Cal O'Reilly. The goals were the first of the season for both Blum and Franson.
The second period saw goals from both clubs, including Peoria goals from Nick Drazenovic and Derek Armstrong and Milwaukee goals from Dave Scatchard (assisted by Sulzer and Franson) and Andreas Thurreson (assisted by Sulzer and O'Reilly).
Goal number 5 for Milwaukee came in the form of an empty netter scored by Ben Eaves with assists from Cal O'Reilly (4th of the night) and Peter Olvecky. Milwaukee goaltender Mark Dekanich earned the win, stopping 22 of 24 shots whil Peoria's Hannu Toivonen stopped 30 of 34.
The Admirals next stop is Abbotsford, British Columbia, where theiy'll play 2 games against the Abbotsford Heat. Friday night's game in Abbotsford will be the first time the two franchises will face each other, as last season the Heat operated as the Quad City Flames in Moline, Illinois. The Heat are 1-0-2 in 3 games, and currently sit 4th in the North Division.
