On Sunday, the White House announced that President Obama will be meeting with Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu during the his trip to Washington, ending several days of uncertainty over the meeting. Mr. Netanyahu was to arrive in Washington Sunday night to give e a speech at the annual conference of the Jewish Federations of North America. He will meet with the President on Monday night.
US-Israel relations have been tense since Netanyahu rejected Obama's request, the latter hoping that the Israeli government stop building or expanding Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
The Palestinians have said that Israel has deeply encroached on the territories they claim as the basis for a future state.
