Saturday night the Kansas City Wizards claimed its first victory in more than two months over a quality New England Revolution team.
The win not only gave the Wizards a much needed respite from this season's woes, but it also provided this examiner the chance to highlight this week's heroes and zeros with a smile.
To begin, the heroes...
1) Josh Wolff - Because of his golden toe, Wolff was by far the biggest Wizard hero on Saturday. He had two goals, and was part of all four of the team's scores as he notched his third multi-goal game of the season
2) Claudio Lopez - Two weeks ago, Lopez had a chance to score an early goal against Real Salt Lake. He missed, and the Wizards lost 1-0. This week, Lopez finished with a firm shot into the corner and in the process, lifted a giant monkey off his team's back.
3) Kevin Hartman - Throughout Kansas City's four game losing streak, Hartman did his best to keep the Wizards in each game, and this game was no different. Even though it wasn't his best performance, Hartman saved three shots and never let the Revolution find a equalizer.
And the zeroes... well to be honest, if a team hasn't won a game for more than two months, there has been enough zeros. But last Saturday the Wizards were winners, and for that reason, no one is a zero this week.
