U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Maclaren USA announced today that one-million baby strollers will be recalled after 15 reports of injuries -12 that resulted in finger amputations.
The Maclaren strollers pose a high risk of finger amputation or laceration caused by the stroller hinge mechanism when the stroller is opened or unfolded.
The Maclaren baby strollers were sold at Babies "R' Us, Target and other mass merchandise retailers nationwide from 1999 through November 2009 and sold between $100 to $360.
The recall involves all Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers. The affected models are:
The recall will be effective as of Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Consumers are strongly advised to immediately stop using these recalled strollers and to contact Maclaren USA to receive a free repair kit.
