Sesame Street first aired 40 years ago November 10, 1969 on PBS, and continues to entertain and educate preschoolers today.

Adults today, remember the cherished childhood friends of the past with vintage classic songs with guest appearances by Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Johnny CashKermit's "Disco Frog", Ray Charles with Lamb Chop and celebrities.

Sesame Street educates preschoolers about basic life skills that include healthy eating habits, hygiene and safety. Just as life and the show has evolved and changed over the years; Sesame Street has tackled difficult subjects for children who may have been touched by birth, death and divorce in their own lives. Friends had to help Big Bird understand Mr. Hooper's death in the early 80's.

Sesame Street teaches a variety of preschool readiness skills; such as, letter and number recognition, shapes, colors, classification and problem solving skills and still continues to feature celebrity guest appearances including Michelle Obama and Heidi Klum.

Sesame Street continues to captivate children and brings back nostalgic memories of childhood for parents and adults of today. ~ Happy Anniversary Sesame Street!
