Ancient faiths and some current modern faiths hold strong beliefs in multiple gods. This series of articles explores the possible basis of the multiple god belief. Three previous articles in the What Is category played heavily in setting up this series. If you haven’t read them or wish to review what I wrote, here are links:
Now, the Greek gods were not the origination of the multi-god faith, but it is perhaps the best known in Western Society. And is a good starting point for our theory.
Theorem 1 – Angels are beings with supernatural powers
Theorem 2 – Man and Angels have Free Will
Theorem 3 – Nephilim are the product of Angel and Human procreation
Angels walked the earth, and mated with human beings. We see this in various books, including the Christian Bible of the Nicene Convention, and several books not included in this bible such as the Book of Enoch, and in Pauline Christianity writings.
The angels who did this were fallen, not evil or demons, but not of the holy order, they had fallen to earth and refused their duties to God. They still retained their powers, and those powers were determined by their level on the angelic hierarchy. Some have the power to command an element, such as water, fire, lightning, others special abilities such as teleportation, levitation, or seeing the future. Once fallen and loving humans, they became gods. It’s not so hard to believe they would be godlike to a normal human if they maintained their powers. And how did I come to the conclusion that Angels were our manlike gods? Ancient writings, including biblical ones tell me so.
In Genesis 4:26, Seth’s son Enosh was born. Enos or Enosh is accurately translated as weak, frail, and incurable. The son’s name may have been a parable for what was occurring in Seth’s time. The Targum of Jonathan says: "That was the generation (the generation of Enosh) in whose days they began to err, and to make themselves idols.”
There are varying translations of this verse (Genesis 4:26), some say that “When Seth grew up; he had a son and named him Enosh. At that time people first began to worship the Lord by name.”, but Scholars say that the literal translation of the second sentence is "Then men began to call themselves by the name of Jehovah." Other scholars translate the statement in this manner: "Then men began to call upon their idols by the name of Jehovah (or God)."
The timing is right, because Angels had been walking the earth and intermarrying since Adam and Eve started begetting children.
Most gods of Greek Mythology, (Egyptian, Roman, Viking and others for that matter as well) have some sort of supernatural power. Poseidon for example has power over the waters. It made sense for people living near the ocean to pay tribute to him so he would give favorable weather to the fishermen. Elemiah (angelic name) is reputed to protect those who travel by water, could he be Poseidon?
Time is managed by Chronos. Galgaliel (angelic name) governs the wheel of the sun, or time.
Aphrodite is known as the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Art, how fitting that Hael (angelic name) is known to inspire Beauty, Art and Kindness.
Apollo the god of music, healing and light is comparble to Israfel (angelic name) who Inspires music and feelings of new hope (light and healing perhaps?).
Just these few instances you can see so many comparisons between angels that supposedly had fallen and Olympic gods.
Their children are not to be left out as well. Nephilim are described as great persons.
Genesis 6 – 4 “In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times.”
For example, Hercules a Nephilim, is the son of a god and human woman. He is described in legendary, and fairly recent television tales of his heroics.
Perseus also a Nephilim, is the son of Danae (a princess) and Zeus. He killed Medusa and acquired her snake filled hair.
Theseus son of Princess Aethra and Poseidon destroyed the Minotaur.
Odysseus, King of Ithaca, is the great grandson of Aeolus, the god of the winds, Hermes the messenger of the gods (a god in his own right), on his mothers side and Arceisus King of Ithaca a human on his fathers.
From these samples you can see that there are many many Nephilim heroes in western lore.
It is not so far fetched to believe that angels and their progeny could be our human like gods. Discussion??
