Heather Locklear says 'Melrose Place' keeping her Cougar

Actress Heather Locklear is making a rebound on the new Melrose Place and in an interview with late night's Conan O'Brien, the comeback lady says the show's producers are keeping her "Cougar".

A phrase often used to describe prowling, older women on the lookout for a younger meat (and also featured in the name of Courtney Cox Arquette's TV series) was used by Locklear to define the length of her skirts on the show.

"The originally Melrose Place was famous for the short, short, short skirts," said Conan on his talk show. "Are you happy with the length of the skirts on the show?" he asked Locklear.

"Well, they could be shorter," she answered. "They're keeping me in the Cougar length."

At 48, Locklear's fierce character, both on and off the screen, isn't intimidated by the length of her skirts.

"I feel more confident about myself now than I did 20 years ago. And I can honestly say I look better today," Locklear said in a past interview with Shape magazine.

Locklear, also a mom to preteen daughter Ava, keeps fit by always making exercise a priority and tripping herself out to make it through a workout - Even if she doesn't feel like it.

"There are times when I feel lazy and just want to stay in bed all day," she confesses to Shape. "But I know that working out is the best way to get those endorphins going, which will make me feel better emotionally and physically. To help me stay positive at 7 a.m. while I'm putting on my gym clothes, I say things like, 'Oh lunges! I love lunges! Let's do another set!'"

Earlier this year, Locklear was named one of "VH1's 40 Hottest Hotties of the 90s" and is hopping back on the new set of Melrose Place to hopefully give some life to the show's ratings. But while Heather ages, there's one thing she's not willing to let go stale.

"My priorities have changed as I've gotten older. I still want to have fun, but now that philosophy translates to good health, good friends, good food, and good roles." Check out the video of Heather on Conan below.
