To get that sun kissed glow with a self tanner it will require careful application and some simple to follow tips that can be found below. Don't worry it gets easier with practice and no one will ever suspect that you used self tanner at home instead of going to the local spa if you follow my simple self tanning tips.
1.) Exfoliate- The exfoliation step is very important due to the fact that self tanners love to cling to dry patches on the skin thus leading to dark patches. To exfoliate properly you need to purchase a body scrub of your choice and you need to purchase a moisturizer. You will then hop in the shower like you normally do and pour a grape-sized amount of scrub into your hand and rub it into your skin using a circular motion starting at your feet. You will then move upward and pay more attention to dry areas of your body by rubbing in a circular motion for a few extra seconds. Then you will rinse off the scrub until all the grains have been removed from your skin. 2.) Prevent tan palms- To prevent tan palms you will need to wear gloves it doesn't really matter as to what brand you wear they all work the same. However keep in mind that if you use gloves you might end up making the self tanner thicker thus leading to a darker tan. Another way to prevent tan hands would be to wash your hands every few minutes with a nail brush. 3.) Apply the self tanner- When you apply self tanner you want to apply it section by section if you want an even tan. Try to apply equal amounts to all parts of your body if it is possible. 4.) Dry and repeat- Wait at least 45 minutes before putting your clothes back on. If you put your clothes on to soon you will stain them and you will ruin your tan. If you want to go a little darker just apply another layer of self tanner after the first layer has dried. 5.) Protect- You can protect your tan by adding a moisturizer of your choice to your body daily to prevent your skin from drying out. This will also make your tan last longer and give you that sun kissed glow.
