We haven't seen Rolling Stone 1078 (the one with Bob Dylan on the cover), but reports say he suggests that he'd like to work with Paul McCartney.
Credit Ed Masley of the Arizona Republic for noticing this first. (NME.com has also picked up on it.) His story on it appeared a couple of days ago. "That'd be exciting to do something with Paul! But, ya know, your paths have to cross for something like that to make sense," Masley quoted Dylan.
Given the fact that Dylan just toured Mendips while in Liverpool (see our exclusive reports here and here), it seems he more than a casual interest in the Beatles. (We've heard that he also stopped by Forthlin Road but was unable to tour it. An official source said it was a time problem, but someone who took the tour over the weekend said it was because no one answered the door when he arrived.)
If you think about it, it'd be a strange collaboration. How would Dylan's song styles mesh with McCartney's?
On the other hand, one of McCartney's best collaborations post-John Lennon came with someone -- Elvis Costello -- whose song stylings didn't seem a great fit.
Great artists make things work. Let's hope these guys get the chance.
