On this date in Beatle history - Jan. 6 - a look ahead to America
- In 1964, Granada TV broadcast concert and interview footage of the Beatles recorded the previous November at the ABC Ardwick Theatre in Lancashire. The interview included talk of the Beatles' planned visit to the United States in February.
- In 1967, evening overdubbing sessions continued for "Penny Lane." Several instruments are added, including conga drums by John, according to Mark Lewisohn in "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions."
