National Campaign to Educate Parents About Game Ratings, Parental Controls and Online Video Games

April 22, 12:11 AM

Great News for any parent whose children  play video games.  The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) have joined forces and launched a national campaign to educate parents about the ESRB rating system.   "A Parents Guide to Video Games, Parental Controls and Online Safety"  booklet is being distributed to all 26,000 PTA's.  A copy of the booklet is available at http://www.esrb.org/about/news/downloads/ESRB_PTA_Brochure-web_version.pdf .

This guide provides parents with step by step instructions on how to set up parental controls as well as other information about online safety.   What a terrific resource for parents who are simply  trying to keep up with the latest in gaming system capabilities.  Video games are a popular past time for many children.  Playing games can  provide some educational value as well as access  to virtually interact and chat with others while playing.  Keeping parents in the loop is the best way to ensure the safety of our children.

What do you think?
