Practice Inaugural parade and ceremony slated for this weekend
This afternoon, the Presidential Inaugural Committee announced plans for an Inaugural dress rehersal. Sunday, January 11 starting around 9 in the morning the crew will practice Inaugural day activites. Everything kicks off with a pretend swearing in ceremony on the West Front lawn, followed by a departure ceremony, and then a Presidential review of the troops on the East Front lawn.
Once those ceremonies make it through their dress rehersal – participants will then march down Pennsylvania Avenue as part of a Inaugural Parade run though. More than 3-thousand people will participate in the event, including stand ins for both President elect Obama and Vice President elect Biden.
So far,
DDOT has no information on their website about any potential street closings for Sunday morning. Although there is no official information for folks that may want to watch the pretend parade – lining up along Pennsylvania would probably be a good spot, and security is bound to be fairly manageable.
