A poignant tribute to our history

Labor history is American history. It is impossible to fight back against the opponents of the right to organize without understanding the change they believe in. That change includes a return to the pre-New Deal era when workers were disrespected and expendable. Today workers are mobilizing to demand quick passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, the most important and effective stimulus bill before Congress.
As a reminder the
Northland Poster Collective has released a poster marking the 75th anniversary of the New Deal. “As we face the beginning of what could be another Great Depression, we are hearing renewed discussion of the responses that developed to the Depression of the 1930s,” says Northland’s Ricardo Levins Morales, “These included mass worker organizing and public investment in infrastructure, education and culture. It also would come to include massive military expenditures. However the current situation unfolds, it is good to remember the past.”
