Did you ever think Republican Tom DeLay would be on the same list that includes Lil' Romeo and Sara Evans? Dancing with the Stars made it possible. DeLay became the seventh contestant to withdraw from DWTS and the third celebrity to withdraw during the season and the second to withdraw during the season because of a dance-related injury.

During season 2, entertainer and basketball player Lil' Romeo was the first person to withdraw from "Dancing with the Stars" and he did it before the season even started. He was replaced by his father, rapper Master P, and his partner was Ashly Del Grosso. Master P was hard to watch and his scores reflected it. Although he had the low score every week, his fans kept him in until the fourth week (when he scored an 8) His partner had better luck during the first season, when she danced with Joey McIntyre to place third. The third season she paired with Harry Hamlin.  DelGrosso married a field producer for DWTS, Mike Costa, in 2006.

Season 3, country singer/songwriter Sara Evans withdrew during competition due to personal problems (her divorce). Her partner was Tony Dovolani.

Season 4, Soprano star Vincent Pastore withdrew before the season started and was replaced by former "Cheers" star John Ratzenberger who danced with Edyta Slinwinska.

Season 7 saw beach volleyball Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor withdraw after an injury to her Achilles tendon. She required surgery. May-Treanor and her partner Kerri Walsh won gold medals in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics.  May-Treanor is from Los Angeles. Her dance partner was Maksim Chmerkovskiy. See May-Treanor dancing the mambo below to "Black Mambo" by Angel and the Mambokats. She scored 21 (7, 7, 7). Brooke Burke and Derek Hough would win that season.

Season 8 had two withdrawals before the show began: singer Jewel and TV host Nancy O'Dell. Both withdrew due to injuries. Jewel fracture the tibia in both legs and was replaced by Holly Madison, the ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner. O'Dell tore her meniscus and required surgery. Stepping in to replace here was Melissa Rycroft.  Rycroft, a former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader and a finalist on "The Bachelor" finished third.

And so far in this season, season 9, Tom DeLay had a pre-stress fracture before the season began. His dance partner Cheryl Burke is the third professional to withdraw because of celebrity injury.

Who said dancing isn't demanding and sometimes dangerous?
