Looks like North America will be headed to Rapture on November 3rd. However, Europe will beat them to the punch with an October 30th release date. Expected to be one of the best titles of 2009, BioShock 2 produced by 2K Marin, is expected to ship on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. For more info on the series, The Cult of Rapture features news, downloads, and a Twitter page to follow for updates. In a recent interview with ComputerAndVideoGames.com, executive producer Alyssa Finley said: "more details will be coming about the multiplayer very soon." Check out the rest of the interview here.
As with the good, comes moments of sadness. Which is that 2K games has also announced that Mafia II has been given a delayed release date. The earliest we will see the game is November 2009, which is doubtful. The delay could cause a release as late as April 30th, 2010. Take-Two has released this statement regarding the push back:
Mafia II and Red Dead Redemption are now scheduled for release in the first half of fiscal 2010 to allow additional development time for the titles and to maximize their full potential in terms of the quality of the player experience and market performance
From a business point, this is very smart. If two blockbuster titles like Mafia II and BioShock 2 came out during the same time period, one would likely suffer. This is fine if you are going against a rival production company, but why compete against yourself?
