Current fashion is all about thinking outside the closet and an excellent way to shake up the imaginative juices is by exploring the arts. One never knows from where inspiration might come. The shape of an abstract sculpture becomes a piece of jewelry. Brush strokes of a painting become fabric. Images in a poem become the theme of a clothing line. The possibilities are exciting.
With that in mind head over to Mills College on Sunday, November 15 for a panel discussion about book art. Five local book artists will discuss their work creating art in book format - Julie Chen, Lara Durback, Ruth McGurk, Matt Runkle, and Dorothy Yule. Additionally there will be an exhibition of books and broadsides designed and printed by the Book Art Program and English Department graduate students at Mills College from the 1980s to the present.
