Melt, the handmade bath and skincare shop is reopening after a major redesign, repackaging and reformulation!  Since 2001, this Colorado-based company has set itself apart from its competitors with very unique products and the care that goes into making them.  Their reformulations, in which they removed all parabens from their product line, are right on track with current consumer demands. Melt has come a long way since I first visited the store when it first opened.  They've gone from a cute and funky laboratory/factory scene, to a serene, spa-inspired boutique.

I recently got the opportunity to ask a few questions of Melt's CMO, Jean Chen:
DBE: What inspired you to remove the parabens from your products?
JC: At Melt, we are continually improving our formulations to address our customers concerns and needs. Our customers expressed concern with these ingredients.  So, we began removing them from our product line last year.
DBE: In this economy, what made you invest in the re-openings?
JC: We believe in the products and the concept and believe that our customers will stick with us in our effort to improve our products and our service.
DBE: Seeing that my 4 year old loves volcanoes, but I hate the mess in the kitchen with the whole baking soda/vinegar thing - are the Fizzy Balls safe for her in the tub?
JC: Make sure that you get Fizzy Balls without rose petals and other enhancements.  Some customers do love having rose petals in their bath - these are in our Maharani Mist fizzies.  We will also be coming out with a new product that will combine our Bath Melt (rich moisturizers) and our Fizzies - which will melt in your bath but also fizz.  Look out for it in the next month or so!
DBE: Those of us living in Denver know we cannot get enough moisture - but looking and feeling like a grease ball is not appealing either.  What products do you suggest for our high altitude lifestyle?
JC: The best moisturizing items we have are our body butters, which are so thick that they have to be handmade and poured hot.  Our lotions, which are olive oil based.  And our massage bars - which are solid lotions and are handy to pack.
DBE: I know you're passionate about your products, but give me your top 3 that you and your family could not live without!
JC:  1) Shaving Butter, it's won Best of Denver and we use it everyday.  2) Body Butter, made with 4 different types of oils and great for the driest skin.  3) Tea Tree Foot Butter, our body butter for feet, made with Tea Tree Oil.

Never tried a Melt product?  Perfect timing!  Melt is hosting a slew of events next week during "Meltopia" at both its Cherry Creek Shopping Center and LoDo locations.  There is everything from beauty consultations to body fat testing to tea tasting!  See store listings below and call the respective store for details. Enjoy 20% off all products during Meltopia (Monday, April 20th - Sunday, April 26th) at both these locations!  Note: LoDo location is closed on the weekends.
