Dita Von Teese: the epitome of fashion
Dita Von Teese is one of my favorite fashionistas ever. She understands real fashion, and real glamour.
She was inspired by 1940’s fashion, when women would dress up just to go to the store. Ever since she was 16, she started wearing corsets and fancy lingerie. Eventually she went on to bring about the revival of Burlesque. She is the one of the only celebrities who is never caught off guard, with no makeup and in sweats.
Her red lipstick and 40’s curls do not mean she only wears vintage. She is often seen in Christian Louboutin heels, Jean Paul Gautier dresses and Oscar De La Renta gowns.
In her book, Burlesque and the Art of the Teese, she plainly and simply shows the audience how to be just a little more glamorous. To her, it all starts with the lingerie. Garters, stocking, corsets – all the things that modernity has done away with – should be brought back. Nothing makes you feel sexier than seamed stockings and a tight corset. Oh, and you should never forget the red lipstick. No matter how busy you are, red lipstick takes two seconds and makes a world of difference.
This time of year, between the food and holiday parties, we can always use a little confidence and style boost. Always absolutely flawless, we can all learn a lot from Dita Von Teese.
