The olfactory sense is among the most powerful of the human senses. That being said, a great signature can be your fragrance. A word of caution though, experiment but use good judgment. Be thoughtful of others, too much fragrance is memorable for the wrong reasons. Let me put it another way, big women wearing big fragrances can be overwhelming. Try a spritz of a lighthearted, fresh fragrance with a citrus or light floral top note.
The top note is the primary fragrance burst upon application, usually fruity or floral. Followed by the heart or middle notes which make up the core of the perfume as it rests on the skin, which are usually floral. Finishing with the base note, which determines how long the fragrance will last, often comprised of sandalwood, musk, amber or vanilla. Each of the notes are made up of “smells.” This is why simple and lighthearted may be best. While the language of fragrance is subliminal, plus-size women do not need to carry the additional heaviness of a weighty fragrance around with them all day.
I love my husband’s cologne, Lanvin L’Homme, and recently adopted it as my own. Who said we need to limit ourselves to traditional women’s fragrances?
