Cleaning up after flu - making sure your home is germ-free
If somebody in your home has had the flu, whether it be regular flu or H1N1, there are steps you can take to make sure that it doesn't spread among other family members.

- Make sure all cutlery, crockery and other kitchen utensils have been washed and rinsed thoroughly. You don't need to wash used utensils separately, but do make sure that items aren't shared with out being cleaned thoroughly first.
- Throw all tissues away in the trash after use.
- Keep all surfaces clear and clean using disinfectant cleaners, paying particular attention to bedside tables, bathrooms and kitchen counters.
- Be sure to clean children's toys regularly.
- It won't hurt to wipe the telephone, remote control, computer mouse & keyboard and door knobs down occasionally with a disinfectant wipe.
