Just yesterday, we reported on the newest novel from crime author Patricia Cornwell. Today, the news is out on Cornwell's own dramatic turn, as she sues Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP for reportedly costing her losses up to $40 million.
The suit was filed in Boston federal court against her "accountants and business advisers", specifically Ira Yohalem and Evan Snapper for mishandling her own and her spouse's millions. According to The Daily Beast, the firm had the authority to write checks in Cornwell's name, a procedure which is not uncommon, but one which they allegedly took advantage of.
Despite the heavy loss (and expected costs of taking the suit to court), Cornwell's continued publishing success, as well as upcoming Lifetime films starring Andie MacDowell adapted from two of her novels, should soften the financial blow. Her novel, The Scarpetta Factor, is currently number 25 in books on Amazon, and has received glowing reviews from readers.
