San Francisco Turkey Trots
Prepare yourself for that delicious Thanksgiving feast by popping out in the morning for one of the Turkey Trots taking place all over the San Francisco Bay Area.
- San Francisco Thanksgiving Day Fun Run. Held at Polo Field in the Golden Gate Park, there are different levels of run depending on the age and fitness levels of the participants. Choose from the 5 mile Turkey Trot (for runners), the 3 mile Pilgrim Promenade (for walkers) or the 100 meters Kids Gobbler Chase (for young'uns). Get there early! The races start at 8:15a for the younger set and 8:30a for the adults.
- Silicon Valley Turkey Trot. 5K Walk, 10K Run at Guadalupe River Park in Downtown San Jose. Registration begins at 7am. The Race Events promise a day of delight, with the schedule including: Fittest Firm Competition, CEO/Celebrity 5K Challenge, Quickest Cop/Fastest Firefighter, Mayor;s Cup Challenge, Kid Fun Run, and Costume Contest. In it's 5th year, the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot has raised nearly $750,000 for charity.
- Fairfield Solano Turkey Trot. Start the race at Solano Community College and wind your way through the incredible beauty of Suisun Valley farmland. Registration begins at 7am on race day. Awards are given to the first finishers of each race (5K run, 5K walk, 10K run), but also within each 5 year age group.
Get your running shoes out and take the kids to a Turkey Trot this year! It will be fun, it will be outdoors, and it will warm up your system for that delicious Thanksgiving feast after the race.
