Atheist Nexus, a networking site for atheists, is approaching its one year birthday. Its was started last year on July 10th and currently has nearly 10,000 members. The site, which was started by Richard Haynes (aka "Brother" Richard), is a place similar to other networking sites like Facebook or MySpace. The big difference is that only atheists are allowed to join.

The site offers a safe haven for atheistic minded individuals to share conversations and friendships without them being imposed on by religious bullying and the like. As with other networking sites, members can establish and join groups, upload pictures, blog, and even chat in the chat room.

You can network with people like James Morrow, Hemant Mehta, PZ Myers, Margaret Downey, Jason Torpy, Tom Melchiorre, Nate Phelps, and more. You can join groups like Secular Students Alliance, Atheist Alliance International, American Atheists, and American Humanist Association. There are also several local organizations that use groups.

As the birthday approaches, there is a push to get to 10,000 members (there are currently 9,432).

In addition to Atheist Nexus, Richard founded NoGodTube. On this site, people can upload videos without fear that they may be taken down simply because religious folk don't like them. It offers a safe place for atheists to voice their opinions without fear of being silenced.

Want to join Atheist Nexus and help them get to 10,000 members by the 10th? Visit the site to sign up.
