Hemant Mehta, aka the Friendly Atheist, wrote about a bus ad that appeared in New Orleans placed by The Christian Party. It seems the message was a counter to the atheist bus ad that says:
Don't believe in God? You're not alone.
Below that text of the ad, is the name of the organization that placed the ad and their phone number: "New Orleans Secular Humanist Assoc. 504-592-0836"
The Christian Party's counter ad says:
There definitely is a God, so join The Christian Party and enjoy your life.
Next to that message is the group's logo. But wait... what is that fine print at the bottom of the ad? What is it that prompted Hemant to say, "That's what we like to call 'classy?'"
Apparently the fine print says:
Text AMEN to 96527 to subscribe to the Christian Party News Alert Service and become a registered supporter of the Christian Party. Registration by text costs $9.99 per month + standard charges. Maximum 3 messages per week. Text HELP for help. Text STOP for stop.
Actually, I think people should send them money. Perhaps then they will be able to afford some creativity and a little imagination. (Check out their ad.) It looks much like the "There's probably no God..." ads that are on buses around the globe.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?
