In an interview on MSNBC today, the Bahamian Health Minister says he is “amazed and appalled” that the cause of Jett’s death was leaked to the public. Autopsy results have not been officially released and it isn’t clear if they will be, but a funeral director in the Bahamas,  Keith McSweeney, revealed that the death certificate states cause of death as Seizure Disorder.

According to Radar, in an exclusive interview, family friend and lawyer, Michael McDermott said that Jett was on Depakote for a year but was taken off because its effectiveness was decreasing and it was starting to cause organ damage. The report did not say how long ago he was on the medication. He also said that to his knowledge, Jett was not on any medication prior to his death.

McDermott went on to say

So their religious beliefs did not influence him in their treatment or cause his death. His parents did not cause him to fall, his parents did not cause his death. These are terribly cruel, baseless and nasty accusations.

Speculation continues to swirl as to the nature of Jett’s condition. According to a friend of John Travolta’s brother, Joey Travolta, the brothers often argued about Jett’s condition. Joey believed that Jett was Autistic and was bothered that John denied it. He said that John denied it because his Scientology teachings do not recognize Autism as a real condition.

The family friend said

Joey loves his family but there were a lot of disagreements about Jett’s treatment and what could be done. I can see Jett’s parents now will be facing a lot of soul-searching.

A great deal of debate surrounds the topic of parents denying their children medical attention because of their religious beliefs. While it is not clear if that was the case with Jett, people are looking for answers. They are expecting the Travolta’s to be held accountable if it turns out to be true of them.
