Gay Bishop to deliver a non-Christian prayer at inaugural event

New Hampshire Episcopal Bishop, Gene Robinson, who is openly gay, will deliver a prayer at an inaugural event to take place at the Lincoln Memorial. People have speculated as to whether or not this move was prompted by the outcry from the gay community when Obama announced that Rick Warren would deliver the inaugural invocation.

In a report by the Associated Press, it has been said that Robinson will not use a Bible when delivering his prayer. Although he doesn’t yet know what he will say, he said
 

While that is a holy and sacred text to me, it is not for many Americans.

I will be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer. This is a prayer for the whole nation.
