Allio All In One PC/TV
The Allio marries a high powered PC
with a flat-panel LCD TV in a first-
of-its-kind product.

Somebody’s finally gone and done it.  We’ve seen LCD televisions with integrated Blu-Ray players, and even TVs with network connectivity to access a limited number of sites on the internet.  Now we have a TV that has a full high power computer built in.  Not talking about trying to type with a remote control here either.  A wireless keyboard and mouse are included.

Silicon Mountain has introduced the Visionman Allio.  I’d normally say “TV”, but it really does go a touch beyond that with the fully integrated PC.  So, we’ll call it an Allio (Yes, for those who wondered, that’s “All In One”).  Whether you’re looking for better capability for your entertainment in the living room, or looking to get a computer with a gigantic screen, this could be a boon to you.

Models start as low as $1,599 and the flagship model of the Allio line snags you a 42” 1080p Full-HD display, Blu-Ray and DVD capabilities, an integrated digital recorder (PVR/DVR), and an Intel Core2Duo E8400-Based PC boasting a full 4GB of RAM and a TB of hard drive space as well as Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  The system doesn’t come gimped on the connectivity either, with 7.1 speaker surround sound capability, gigabit Ethernet, wireless, and plenty of USB ports to compliment the normal inputs you’d normally find on the back of a TV.

Watch TV and check email during the commercials?  No problem.  Get access to thousands of legal, free movies and TV shows on sites like Joost, Hulu, and TidalTV?  In a heartbeat.  Keep an eye on Bloomberg financial news while doing stock trades online?  Business as usual.  Cheer a televised game while tracking your Fantasy Football stats at the same time?  They’ve got you covered.

Currently six configurations are available, three 32” and three 42”.  Whether you’re looking to meet the budget and still get a great product, or go all out with features and capabilities, Allio systems have you covered.  Ranging from 32” systems that drop the cost of Blu-Ray and the extra RAM and drive space, priced at $1,599, up to the 42” powerhouse described above for $2,799, they bring a good selection of price and performance balance to the table.

With mentions of Linux versions for lower cost and complication and an ongoing expansion of products, this is definitely an item I’ll be watching as it progresses.  More information will definitely be forthcoming!
