Once again, it’s the most wonderful time of the year and with it comes the first in a series of articles about holiday happenings throughout downtown Mount Dora during the most joyous season of all. Starting Wednesday, November 18 and continuing through November 22, (Wed-Sun), Women for Hospice is sponsoring “A Season of Trees” at the Donnelly Park Pavilion in downtown Mount Dora. On display and for sale will be custom-made designer Christmas trees as well as seasonal trimmings, holiday gifts and Christmas arts and crafts. Proceeds will benefit the patients of Cornerstone Hospice. Hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wed. – Sat. and 10 a.m – 2:00 p.m. on Sun.
The opening night gala for the Mount Dora “Season of Trees” will be hosted on November 17 at the Donnelly Park Pavilion from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Entry will set you back for $25 per person, a small price to pay for such a worthy cause. As you make your way around the displays, enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and a glass of wine. What a way to kick off the holiday season, a time for all of us to be charitable and generous! If you’re interested on attending the gala, reservations are required. Send your check payable to Women for Hospice to Nanci Darst, 6033 Falcon Bridge Place, Mount Dora, FL 32757. For more information, you can call Nanci at 352-383-9234.
The "So you think you know Mount Dora" challenge continues. Yesterday, I published an article about taking the time to smell the roses and discover the often overlooked surprises that hide throughout Mount Dora. Readers were challenged to find out where in Mount Dora the doors on the building below could be found. Well, here's the big reveal. Were you right? It's the Goblin Market in Dora Drawdy Lane, only one of the finest restaurants in Mount Dora.
Here is your next challenge. Be sure to share your thoughts in the comment field below.
