It's harvest time in Mount Dora and the season proved bountiful with nearby pumpkin patches overflowing with Jack-O'-Lanterns to be. Ripe for the picking, these pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes and there's plenty to choose from. Plus, festivals, contests, pumpkin carving and more Halloween fun in many locations throughout the area.

Plenty of pumpkin fun right here in downtown Mount Dora at the St. Edwards Episcopal Church on the corner of 5th and Grandview. Now through Friday, the pumpkin patch is open from 12 – 7 p.m. On Saturday, it's an all-day affair with pumpkin picking from 12 -6 p.m. and a Harvest Festival or Pumpkin Palooza beginning at 4 p.m. and lasting until whenever. The festival will feature hayrides, pumpkin decorating, candy, entertainment, face-painting, costumes, a bounce house, plenty of food, pie-cake eating contest and more! All of this Halloween fun is brought to you by the church youth group.

Santa's Christmas Tree Farm in Eustis – don’t let the name of this farm fool you because the pumpkins are plentiful and perfectly ripe for the picking. Surrounded by the sprawling countryside, Santa's Christmas Tree Farm is located on Huff Road off State Road 44 in Eustis, about 11 miles east of downtown. You'll find pumpkin carving, hayrides, pony rides, petting zoo, a magical maze, kiddie-cart rides and plenty of food. Need more decorations? The onsite shop features plenty of Halloween trimmings for your castle. Admission is free except for a $2 charge for the maze and rides. Hours are 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today through Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Halloween! Check out SantasChristmasTreeForest.com for more information.

Leesburg – Pumpkins abound in the patch at Christ United Methodist on Griffin Road in Leesburg. Open from 10:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. now through Halloween.

Montverde - Cub Scout Troop 786 will be hosting a pumpkin picking fund raiser at the Montverde United Methodist Church. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m now through Halloween night.

Umatilla – The Crossroads Fellowship United Methodist Church and the Hearts and Hands Ministry are sponsoring a pumpkin patch on State Road 19 at Golden Gem Boulevard in Umatilla. They will be open from noon to 6 p.m. now through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Halloween!

Happy Halloween!
