black peep toe pumps

Some people collect antiques, coins, and records. Some people collect designer vintage, silk scarves, and famous people's stage garments.  Tonya Dusold, the creative force behind tonyadusold.blogspot.com and pinkdotdesigns.com collects shoes, and lots of them! Regularly turning over her collection keeps her moving fashion forward, and in step toward trend setting. Who better to call upon for answers about fabulous footwear than a savvy fashionista with a bona fide shoe fetish?  Here she lends her creative tips on trends, online shopping spots, and surprising finds!

Do you prefer any particular style over another? How about color?

One of the greatest things about shoes is you can wear sexy shoes no matter if you are a size 2 or 22.  Barring a medical condition, I don't think anyone should ever rule out any style of shoes, or color for that matter. I love flats, heels and boots. I have red, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink, black, brown and metallic.

Shoes can be a way to make a "safe" outfit fun, and take my mood from ho-hum to hooray. . I love these black peeptoe pumps that are reminiscent of sexy fishnet stockings. There is no such thing as inappropriate shoes for any occasion or weather. Wear your snow boots to the office, then please change into something cute for the day.

(Unless, of course, your snow boots happen to be super cute for the day!)

Tonya's find

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

My collection varies from 80-100 pairs. I have a tendency to buy and ditch shoes several pairs at a time. In any given week, I'll wear at least a dozen pairs. When I can't decide what to wear in the morning, I  wear one pair then switch over lunch!

What is your favorite shopping spot for shoes?

Shopping online at MustHaveShoes.com, CutesyShoes.com and Overstock.com, you can narrow your search to find something very specific.  The selection and sizes available online are better than most brick&mortar stores, but never rule out anywhere as a potential shoe shopping mecca. I just bought two super cute pairs of heels at K-mart, where you would think I wouldn't be likely to find something! I got a pair like these grey ones, similar to a pair seen on Project Runway.

Chinese Laundry, fun and wearable

Who is your favorite manufacturer or what is your favorite brand?

I never rule anything out. You do get what you pay for when it comes to shoes, but if your collection is large, even cheap shoes will last because they aren't getting worn that often. I found these pointed, striped flats from Chinese Laundry, they are fun, unusual, totally wearable, and still comfortable.

Get really great deals on all of Chinese Laundry's discontinued and overstocked merchandise every day at Ross stores, in Colorado Springs, located in the Southgate shopping center , on  N Academy Blvd, or N. Carefree Circle, and as always, you can find the new CL collections online.

hidden platform is Tonya's secret to looking tall

What's your favorite current trend in footwear?

I love flat boots, stiletto booties, and hidden platform heels. Yum! I am short so my foot is not long enough to handle anything over 4", and the hidden platform can make what appears to be an impossibly high heel into something possible.

If money was no issue, what 1 pair would you buy today?

Someday I will have a pair of really funky, crazy Manolo Blahniks. People will talk about them and ask me about them, and I will finally say "They're Manolos!" It makes me tingly! If I had the $1050, I'd buy these grey suede ruffled booties.
