Find out more about Maya: Named after a poet and raised with regular exposure to music, theater, literature and the like, of all the art forms which Maya has encountered and adores, nothing captured her imagination quite like salsa music and dance. A media professional by day, Maya spends her free time searching for her next "salsa fix." Largely regarded as a "veteran" of Atlanta's young salsa scene, over the past few years, Maya has graduated from an absolute beginner with zero dance experience, to a certified salsera with training in multiple styles, local and regional performance and teaching experience, features in salsa-related publications as both contributor and subject, and co-producer of salsa events--including the legendary Flava Invasion®. Currently, Maya produces special events as a member of the Clave Clan, and continues her mission to help cultivate the growth of salsa/mambo music and dance in the city. |
