New Washington-to-New York bus line still has $1 tickets
There’s a new kid on the
D.C.-to-NYC-cheap-but-luxurious-bus block.
Tripper Bus will start running the Washington-to-New York corridor this evening. Boasting similar amenities as rivals
BoltBus,
MegaBus and
Peter Pan -- like electrical outlets and WiFi access -- Tripper Bus also offers the $1 ticket perk. Unlike Bolt and Mega, the Tripper site lets you view a
month’s worth of schedules -- and the prices currently assigned to each trip -- making it easier to spot the deals. A quick scan of the
list found seven trips from the D.C. area to New York that are still priced at $1. Granted, the times aren’t ideal. But hey, for $1, I’ll leave at 4:30 p.m. on a Monday! One caveat: the buses don’t leave from the Bolt and Mega buses’ ideal-for-me Chinatown location in Washington. Instead, you board either in Rosslyn or Bethesda -- though
right by both Metro stops -- with drop-offs at Penn Station in New York. The new company has limited service on weekdays, but several trips daily on weekends. And this weekend, they’ve beefed up service to capitalize on President’s Day weekend travel. So if you and Honeybee are still looking for a fun but cheap way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and to capitalize on the long weekend, why not hop a Tripper Bus to NYC for the weekend? Check out the
New York Budget Travel Examiner’s advice on finding cheap hotels in the Big Apple.
