Online distance learning via the internet

The Prophet Muhammad, God's peace and blessings be upon him said: "To acquire some useful knowledge is of greater merit than to perform a hundred devotional prayers voluntarily" (Narrated by Ibn Majah). A common complaint received by those involved with Islamic activism is the difficulty to access scholars that live and teach in areas that are far away. With the advent of online distance learning, Muslims around the world are embracing the virtual classroom. As they sit in the comfort of their homes and cars, Muslims are accessing information taught by scholars from miles away. Now there are many organizations offering courses via the internet. Classes are easily accessible on computers, iPhones and other portable devices. Acquiring knowledge from teachers is now available via a few clicks.

Shaykh Abdullah Ali is no stranger to online learning. He has taught the Essentials of Faith course currently offered by Zaytuna Knowledge Resources. Recently, he conducted a workshop in Fremont entitled, "Creativity and the Creator: Keeping It Real While Keeping the Spirit" that is in production for online release.
