The Oregon Zoo is inviting homeschoolers and their families to Safari Day, Tuesday, March 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Admission for this event is $7 per person and includes a $2 food coupon that can be used anywhere in the zoo..
Stations will be set up in the Kalahari room with live animals such as amphibians, mammals, and birds. Students will also be invited to examine bones, fur, and feathers. The stations will also have activities geared towards students 8 and up. The stations focus on how animals move, walk, run, hop, swim, slither, and migrate
“Our Safari is a great way for home-school students and their families to learn about wildlife together,” Tony Vecchio, the Oregon Zoo Director explained, “We are providing experiences that complement and enhance home-school activities. Kids have the opportunity to see extraordinary animals and learn about the importance of conservation while having a great time.”
The Oregon Zoo is located just west of Downtown Portland, and is accessible from Highway 26 by car, and MAX. Zoo visitors can also take Trimet bus No. 63. If you take MAX, you will receive $! Off of your zoo admission, but the discount does not work for the Homeschool Safari Day tickets.
