The Utah Avalanche Center is a not-for-profit organization that keeps backcountry skiers on top of the snow by sending out daily avalanche forecasts by phone and on their website. But in order to offer this vital service year after year, they need money. Much of their budget come from the government, but ultimately they rely on donations from the skiing community.

To help accomplish this fundraising effort, Black Diamond Equipment is hosting the 16th annual Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center gala. Food, beer, wine, live music, a silent auction, and a raffle are just a few of the things one can look forward to at this year's party. Of course, intermingling with friends and like-minded powder hounds who are all excited for the upcoming winter season is a fun way to unofficially end the summer.

This year the event takes place on Thursday, Sept 17 at 6 pm in the Black Diamond parking lot, located at 2084 East and 3900 South in Salt Lake City. The party will happen, rain or shine. Attendees must be 21 or older unless with an adult to get in, and a $35 donation is required at the door.
