Salt Lake Valley residents are lucky to live in a place close to the mountains, where so many outdoor recreation opportunities exist only steps away. With world class ski resorts, mountain biking, hiking, and rock climbing available in our own backyards, an outdoor history and culture has been bred over the years. To celebrate our outdoor heritage and encourage others to get outside, the Millcreek Township hosts the Venture Outdoors Festival.
The festival has something for everyone, including live music, children's activities, guest speakers, giveaways, demonstrations, recreation clinics, food, and fun. There are also organized events such as the Fill-the-Ark 5k, a guided canyon hike, kayaking, rock climbing, a bike rodeo and a health and wellness fair.
Recreation tents will feature outdoor professionals giving clinics on topics such as outdoor photography, dutch oven cooking, bike maintenance, and nordic walking. There will also be a climbing tower, a miniature golf course, animal adoptions, stargazing, ATV rides, volleyball, fly fishing, mountain boarding, and archery. In fact, it seems that if there is anything that can be done outside, you'll find it at the Venture Outdoors Festival.
The event takes place on Saturday, June 20 beginning with the Morning Venture activities, followed by the festival which takes place from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Canyon Rim Park, located at 2900 E. 3100 S.
