Reports published in the Canadian press are suggesting that the two Canadians shot to death in Puerto Vallarta over the weekend may have been involved in drug trafficking.

Toronto's Globe and Mail newspaper.  reports:

“These guys were owners of a Hummer and a Mercedes and they were apparently armed and fired a weapon,” Mexican Embassy press attache Alberto Lozano said in a telephone interview from Ottawa. “So this does not seem to be the case of a couple of tourists.”

The Globe and Mail continued:   "Citing police sources, another local report said Mr. Kendall and Mr. Ivans were connected to the B.C.-based United Nations gang, long linked to the cocaine trade. "
